Over their lives
Over their days
Over the fields
Above the clouds.
Shinning on their faces
On the trees
On the flowers
Being
The light of their day.
My job is to make them see
Make them come out
Make things grow,
Warm the cold days.
As I rise
The world wakes up.
As I start to set
The trees tell me
“Keep shinning.”
The humans tell me
“We need your light.”
The animals tell me
“We need more time to play.”
But can’t they see I need to pause?
Can’t they see the rest of the world needs me too?
They think without me
They can no longer see
Get a pocket flashlight
So you can ALWAYS see.
I need to go light the hills
That are on the other side.
I need to warm their part of the world
I need to give them a reason to wake up.
I’ll be back tomorrow
But they tell me
Tomorrow might never come,
So they need me today.
But I can’t stay.
It breaks my shine to leave
It puts a cloud over me
It puts the chilled wind in the air to cover my warmth.
When I was made
I was made with faith.
Faith that as the things and people that I helped grow
Start to die,
That they will be just fine.
And with that faith
I continue to come and go.
Even with
Them screaming for me to
STAY.
My sisters
Are the clouds
Some clouds follow me close
 And some drift away.
I remember
This one cloud that was beautiful
Inside and out.
But where is this cloud?
Sometimes
I find myself traveling the world looking for it.
But I guess
 As I rise
 It is just going down,
And I miss it,
Too late.
The birds
Are my family,
They need me to stay
 And let them see
While on their way.
I’m the reason they still fly at day,
I light their path
And if you look closely at me,
You can see my maker.
The flowers
Are my brothers,
Their too small to understand
That without me
They might just fall over.
I have responsibilities
Responsibilities to stay and
Help them grow
Help them see
Help them love
Help them be strong enough
To stand.
The nature all around me is
My mother,
She needs me to help her
Be strong.
But I must go,
I must carry on.
The other side is calling me.
The moon
Is my soul mate,
It tells me
Not to worry
About the things that are breaking my shine by begging me to stay
Because
They’ll be just fine.
It helps me be able to move along.
The days I must shine
Is my future calling me
To continue with my destiny
The destiny to shine.
I tell myself
You have to brighten the
Other part of the world
That you have yet to
Come across.
Throughout my path
I see things that
Are different than
The place I was before.
OH,
How it feels good to shine.
If I stay I might
Not make my dreams
Come true,
The dreams of shinning
All the days to come.
Above me is my maker and his kingdom
And sometimes
I can see the people who once
Were asking me to stay
But are now telling me to go.
Even though I feel nature
Is asking me to stay
She is telling me to go.
So I can light the world.
Well
 I’m leaving
I’m going down.
I’ll be back tomorrow,
I must go now,
So long to this
Side but hello to the other.
Until tomorrow,
I must say
Goodbye.
