Assignment 3

Jonathan Rochester

The love I had for that game can never be the same,
It was my life and my love,
Like a time consuming drug,
But little did I know,
That soon it would all be gone.

Through the pain and the injuries,
There was never a sweeter victory,
Then walking off that field,
Knowing you had just put another butt whooping on Coosa Valley.

The atmosphere is like no other,
When a crowd all comes together,
Waiting to see which team will conquer the other.

There is no other night like that,
When you run out of the black,
Onto a field with your band of brothers,
Who truly got your back.

I am sure there will be some other love for me,
But until I live that day,
I will always find away,
To love football till my final day.

What a breathtaking view

Coming straight from you

Drove to the edge of town

Just to turn around

And marvel at the hue

Purple and dark navy blue

The words cannot describe

The beauty which therein lies

Within the beholder’s eyes

It calls to me to stay

And take my breath away

Captured with each blink

These visions make me think

Of the times I’ve spent with you

Just a couple, one or two

These memories are engraved

In the mountains, there they lay

Though the seasons will have turned

Our journeys yet adjourned

Yet this desire to return

While this life we must continue

I’ll keep coming back to you

Yes, the seasons will go by

But your strength, it will never die

I always think of a place

Where I can stand in Your embrace

So my mind travels to

The mountains, purple and dark navy blue

You see the sky now,
looking upon the water
reflecting its beauty and wonder.
You see the sky now,
so peaceful and calm
not a worry in sight that is for the night
You see the sky now,
so delicate and bright
but caught in the night dreading the sight of the morning light.

Call of Duty

Staying up late, way later than I should,
Do my chores, my mamma wishes I would.

Tear myself away, I could never do so
Because when I get killstreaks, I drop bombs below.

When I start doing good, I'm like, "I'm on fire!"
No matter what gun I use, my rank just goes higher.

All these competitors are no match for me,
When I pull off my drop shot, they have no plea.

As they lay there dead on the the floor,
The rest just scream, "RabidFury, please no more!"

You see the crimson and white march down the field
The Tigers tried, but could not make them yield

The freight train wearing the number three
Shut the honeybadger up as we all could see

The kicks went up "It's Good" we would shout
And all the Tigers could do was sit back and pout

No matter what those silly Tigers tried to do
We would sick Courtney Upshaw and Dont'a on them, its true

With a zero on the score board, they would scream "oh no"
Three words you'll never hear again; Geaux Tigers Geaux

As the sun sets full and bright
As the beautiful blue sky bursts with light

As the grass blows in the wind
Swyaing in rythmic dance.
There is no other place you will find
But maybe by chance

This is no place or scene
But a emotion within
One that races for a queen
A commotion in the heart that begs for somthing to begin
And pleads for somthing everlasting
Somthing that will never end

Waves
 By: Jana Kelbie Armstrong

I watch in wonder on the sandy shore
As the waves crash in before me.
The truest blue like in the skies
They seem to be before my eyes.

With white clouds leading them ahead.
These waves are on a mission.
A mist rains down from above the wave
Like glitter in a fanfare parade.

Although the wave seems like Goliath
To a small human such as I,
It is quite a small piece of the picture,
Set in motion by God in the earth’s glorious mixture.

So slow, but violent they tumble,
So free and always progressing,
It seems that they are burdened, too,
With the greatest secrets of the big blue.

A sign of something that will never end,
The waves will always be rolling in.

Perfection
Shining steel,
Mirrors my face,
I wonder how we got to this place,

Nine wine glasses,
Perfect and fine,
Set on a trey,
Perfect, divine,

Perfection, my friends,
Is what we hold dearly,
Yet in front of my face,
When I can see clearly,

I am not moved by it,
I am not stirred a bit,
And from this I realize deep down that I must admit,

That beauty is nothing,
Without ugly to compare,
And all of our screw-ups,
Our messy affairs,

Are Perfect.

I love this place, the salt in the air
it frizzes my hair.  There's so much to do
without any shoes and so much to see
right by the sea.  White with foam reminds
me of a bath, where I walk in the sand
I see my own path, until waves roll in with
white caps.  Water on the sand, as smooth as
glass, will soon disappear then come back again.
Revealing shells of beauty and color, the surf is a
place of wonder.  There's nowhere else i'd rather be,
the beach is the place where I feel free.

All the beautiful stars in the sky,
And even the big bright moon,
All,
Make the smile on my face appear.
feel the wind blowing against my skin
And the light from the moon pressing a glow upon my body,
Puts beaming warmth in my soul.
The sounds of the chirps,
The whispers of the wind,
The reflecting lights above the clouds,
All make this sky of mine worth falling asleep gazing.
Oh this sky of mine,
Created by hand,
Is the gift that keeps giving
As day rolls to night,
And night brings out the stars.
The matter I call peace of darkness and light
Oh, this beautiful sky of mine,
Is my peace,
My safety,
 while I’m on earth
 it will be my heaven.

As I lay under this bridge
I can't help but pray,
That you cherish as much as me
All our nights and days.
Just a young,innocent child
but how I'll never forget,
When we came o this same spot
On the fourwheeler we'd just sit.
Our bond simply unbreakable,
so special in everyway,
Till one dark and rainy night
Death took it all away.
He was so big,oh so tall
Mightiest of them all,
but it was 18 wheels against 4
he had no chance at all.
The sight,the scene was horrid
carved permantly in my mind,
running frantically through the woods
not knowing what i would find.
We hear the shouts,we hear the screams
How awful could this be?
Then we see the unthinkable,
laying beneath the trees.
Oh the agony oh the pain
I felt down in my heart,
We pray for you to stay
but it was your time to depart.
Daddy wraps his arms around him
Says please don't leave tis way,
He says "shh" my brother
For we shall meet again someday
Fate works in peculiar ways
This I know is right,
For I was 'posed to be there too
but my parents said no that night.
As I lay under this bridge
I can almost hear you say,
Don't cry my little buddy
you will see me again someday.
